Quick Answer
A relaxed family trip: 5 nights on a Dal Lake houseboat, with Srinagar sights on slow days and Gulmarg and Pahalgam as day trips. Our family room suits parents with children; ask about connecting rooms for larger families.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 — Arrive and settle in
Arrive in Srinagar and check in at Ghat No.13, Dal Lake. Keep the first day light: tea on the deck, a short Shikara ride at sunset and an early dinner. Good for children who are tired from travel.
Day 2 — Dal Lake and Mughal gardens
Morning Shikara ride to see the lake life, then Nishat and Shalimar gardens. Lots of open lawns for children. Back to the houseboat for lunch and rest.
Day 3 — Gulmarg
Day trip to Gulmarg (about 1.5–2 hours each way). Meadows and, weather permitting, the Gondola. Carry warm clothes even in summer. Not every gondola ride suits very young children or elders; check on the day.
Day 4 — Rest day on the lake
A buffer day. Floating vegetable market (early morning), shopping for handicrafts, or simply relaxing on the houseboat. Keeping one easy day makes the whole trip comfortable for families.
Day 5 — Pahalgam
Day trip to Pahalgam (about 2.5–3 hours each way) for the Lidder river and valley views. Leave early to avoid tiredness on the return drive.
Day 6 — Departure
Breakfast, check-out and transfer to the airport or onward journey, keeping a comfortable buffer before flights.
